Room 9, Years 3/4
Ko Lara Nemet ahau. I am the Deputy Principal in the Senior School and the Teacher responsible for the Learning Support Students (SENCO). I have been teaching for 23 years and have worked at Houghton Valley School for the last 10 years. I have taught in all year levels and held varying leadership roles.
I am a mother to teenage twins. I have lived in Eastern Suburbs for most of my life and love living by the sea. My family roots are Hungarian, English and Pakeha.
As a leader I am reflective, conscious of changing times and continue to be a life-long learner. I am an excellent communicator, work cooperatively and love to celebrate the success of others. I value the way we all work together at Houghton Valley School to ensure the children have the best possible education.

What is the most important thing in the world?
It is people! It is people! It is people!
Kia ora, my name is Gabrielle, I am very excited to be part of the Houghton Valley community. I am enjoying getting to know each of the students and their families.
This is my seventh year teaching, I have taught in a number of schools, teaching mostly in the junior and middle year group. I am passionate about inquiry learning and fostering students’ ownership of their learning. I enjoy being creative, especially when teaching art and literacy.
One of my hobbies is ‘treasure hunting’ in second-hand stores, finding anything floral or vintage. I also have a small floral business called “Swoon Flowers” which specialize in wedding flowers and floral workshops.
